Well, my plans for a special weekend morphed into something different. My goal for the weekend was to attend my first ever Caladium Festival in Lake Placid, Florida. I'd always wanted to go, and it's not so very far away, but somehow in its 20 years of existence, I've never actually been. I've read tales of glorious fields of caladiums "that can only be compared to the tulip fields of Holland"...verbiage that certainly has tempted me.

Of Saturdays, Sun, and Sweetbays
Spent all day Saturday at Six Acres (Son #1's property). Please excuse me if I speak of this land as though it's my own. I do know it belongs to my son, but I've always wanted land, so I'm living vicariously through him right now. It's okay, 'cause he's getting free labor.

Sunken Treasure and a Cup o' Gold
Well, Floridagirl found herself in the big city yesterday. Out of the bucolic valley, across the big bridge over the Bay, and into the urban jungle. In a very clever move, I discovered I would be just one street over from a garden I had been wanting to visit. (Like I don't want to visit all gardens.) Perfect! I'm becoming more adept at fitting in such garden visits into my normal life.
