Meanderin' Among the May Memories

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I didn't put down the camera during that missing month of May.  Yep, there are hundreds of photos buried on that memory card from May.  I really don't like diggin' back through all the mess.  It's much easier just to manage it day by day.  However, I know there are a few captures I MUST plug into this blog at some point.  Here are some jewels I dug up this morning:

An Evening in the Garden

Don't have a lot of time to spare today, but wanted to share some photos I took yesterday evening.

Frogs, Frustrations, a Few Flowers, and One Fantastic Fern!

We've been so busy lately, both in the garden and in that other place...the real world.  Anyway, this weekend, we happily got out in the garden again to finish trimming away winter's wrath.  Most of our burned foliage was cut back in February, but we never got around to some of the bigger stuff.  This weekend was time to cut back dead leaves from the giant birds of paradise, the bananas, and the starburst clerodendrum.

November Stars

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.  In this little piece of Florida in which I live, November is prime garden time!  So is December.  I understand from weather records, that it has frosted this time of the year before, but I've yet to witness it (knock on wood!).  The great thing about year's end is that all of the tropicals have been rebounding from last winter's frost all year, and are at their biggest, fullest, and bloomiest right now.  : )   So here it is, my recap of November faves:

GBBD: November 15, 2010

It's time for the worldwide Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, hosted the 15th of each month at May Dreams Garden.  A bloom meme is quite overwhelming for me in November, which is one of the peak bloom months in my garden.  But I don't have room for dozens of photos, so I must pick and choose the best.  Oh, it's so hard!

Burning Questions

I am taking you on a walkthrough of my garden this morning, but I'd like to send out a few probes to other bloggers/photographers while we're walkin'.  Any help in answering these burning questions would be appreciated.

My Favorites...This Month! (October 2010)

Oh, glorious month of October!  Such a month of ambivalent feelings for me.  I am always quite saddened to see the crapes shedding leaves, and caladiums and curcumas slipping into the ground for winter's rest.  Yet I am thrilled to see those special blooms of autumn reveal their beautiful faces!  It's almost like having a second spring.  So today, I share my favorites for October, the splendid month of autumn:

Glimpses of Glory in a Garden

"...the whole earth is full of his glory."
~Isaiah 6:3

This weekend, I witnessed glimpses of glory in my garden.  It has thrown me into a fitful state of rhyme this afternoon, so please, please, pardon the poetry.  Some days, I just can't help myself.

Wednesday Walkabout

I really have far too much to do this week and am really feeling that Wednesday "hump day," so I have no business spending time in the garden or posting on this blog.  But you know, I must have a quick meander through the garden.  So much is going on!

Better Late than Never!

Oh, what winter has done to my tropical world!  Yes, it is nearly October, I know, and last winter should be a distant memory.  So why am I still talking about it?  Because I cannot walk through my garden without constant reminders of that vicious season!  There are so many, many plants I've waited patiently for all summer.  Yes, they are reviving, leaf by leaf, branch by branch.

Sweet Swirlin' Crinum Blooms! (and other surprises)

***

Have you ever noticed that you can never step into the same garden twice?

***

Every day, I walk into my garden and never know quite what to expect.  There might be a cloudy, misty aura in the garden, or it might be blindingly bright.  On any given day, I will find plants that are growing larger...and a few plants that are shrinking away...plants bursting into bloom...and a few blooms that are fading.  Some days, I find a garden filled with birds and butterflies and a gentle breeze.  Other days, the garden is still and quiet...almost unearthly.  The one truth is that the garden is never quite the same place as it was the day before.
